Claude Hart joined the Texas Department of Public Safety August 15, 1967 after serving four years in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He spent sixteen months of his military service in Viet Nam at Da Nang, Phu Bai and Zin Kahn.
After seven years in Highway Patrol, he promoted into Motor Vehicle Theft and served three years as an investigator in San Antonio. Claude then promoted to Sergeant, Motor Vehicle Theft and moved to Austin.
After a year and a half, he transferred to the Department of Public Safety Training Academy and was sent to Northwestern University Training Institute in Chicago, Illinois for the long course (one year) in Training Management. His internship was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa, Canada. He spent five years at the Training Academy at DPS Headquarters in Austin and then transferred to Motor Vehicle Inspection.
After sixteen years with the Department of Public Safety, Claude was employed as the Executive Director of the Texas State Troopers Association. He has served in this capacity since May 8, 1984.
